Jumbo Shark Battery from Electrify Bikes – UL certified is a huge deal for me! Installation was easy and I appreciated that I could bolt it down with the triple-bob adapter sold on this website. This battery is the fourth for my for my daily ride (step-through Electra Townie I bought on Craigslist in 2017 and converted with a Bafang BBSHD). It replaces a 13AH battery that I bought from Amazon that began failing within a year of purchasing and I accidentally roasted in my oven. I’ve been mounting batteries to the rear rack because of space limitations owing to it being a step-through. Hence this bike isn’t much to look at but it is the fastest e-bike in town (not counting Sur Rons and Talarias). Since its only few months in, I can’t say anything about longevity but I believe the ad copy when it says they use premium cells. I appreciate that Electrify Bikes provides info on things like how to care for your new battery not to mention that they sell adapters (I bought one so I can use my old battery charger that has an XT60 charge port). And when I placed my order, it arrived in less than a week.

I just finished converting my Specialized Fuse Comp 29 and I love it! The CYC Photon motor is powerful, but quiet. \n\nInstallation was very straightforward. The hardest part was the strength it took to remove the original bike components. Other than that it was a breeze. \n\nI took the bike out for a test run on some very chunky and loose gravel with long steep climbs. Over 16 miles and 1600 ft of elevation I only put the motor above level one pedal assistance for a very short bit to power up an especially steep spot. I barely used any of the battery on that whole ride. \n\nIf you are thinking about converting a hardtail MTB so that you can get up climbs that you would normally say no to, do it!

The hardest part was the strength it took to remove the original bike components. Other than that it was a breeze. \n\nI took the bike out for a test run on some very chunky and loose gravel with long steep climbs. Over 16 miles and 1600 ft of elevation I only put the motor above level one pedal assistance for a very short bit to power up an especially steep spot. I barely used any of the battery on that whole ride. \n\nIf you are thinking about converting a hardtail MTB so that you can get up climbs that you would normally say no to, do it!
