UART VERSION
We prefer to custom program BAFANG motors for superior ride quality: Smoother pedal assist and throttle with a much more natural feel. UART also allows a wider variety of third party accessories, batteries, and repairs. CANBUS motors are very restricted by comparison.

Bafang makes the BBS01/02 motor in a 250-watt, 350-watt, and 500-watt mid-drive configuration, but at Electrify Bike Co., we only carry the BBS02 750-watt. Why is that? The 250-watt and 350-watt motors are primarily for countries with e-bike laws limiting the maximum watts to those wattages. In the USA, the e-bike watt limit is 750 watts, so the Bafang BBS02 kit is perfect. For some bikes, customers, and riding conditions where less power is desirable, the 500-watt motor makes more sense. But the 500-watt motor is the same price as the 750-watt motor, and we can configure the 750-watt motor to be a 500-watt motor when needed. A 750-watt motor can become a 500-watt motor when 750 watts is too powerful for the bike or the rider. A 750-watt motor will also last longer when run at the lower wattage.

The BBS02 only comes in a single bottom bracket size. It fits threaded bottom brackets that are 68mm and 73mm wide. If you have a press-fit bottom bracket of this width, we have adapters that can convert your bottom bracket to the threaded standard so the BBS02 can fit. With the new Lekkie adapter, you can also install it on BB86/92. If you have a wider 100mm or 120mm fat bike bottom bracket, you need to use either the Bafang BBSHD or CYC X1 Pro, or X1 Stealth.

The BBS02 is our go-to Bafang mid-drive kit for most bikes and customers. Quiet and powerful, the BBS02 cranks out 120Nm of torque. Compare that to most high-end factory e-bikes with mid-drive motors having torques topping out at 65Nm to 80Nm. It is affordable and fits almost all older bikes and newer bikes that don’t have a wider bottom bracket. It can now fit BB86 and BB92 bottom brackets with the introduction of Lekkie’s new BB86/92 adapter for BBSxx.

Powerful, fast and quiet Bafang BBS02B street legal mid-drive motor. This motor is rated at 750 watts but puts out 1470 watts peak when asked and does it more quietly than any ebike on the market. With 120 Nm of torque, it has 50% more torque and 100% more power than the motors currently sold in factory ebikes.

Reviews

Easy conversion.

"Using the Triple Bob Mounting Bracket made it easy to mount the 52V 20Ah battery to the seat tube of this single. This conversion looks good and is a nice addition as supplied by Electrify Bike. Order was easy, shipping was timely and the owner is very satisfied with the results. He made the correct decision to electrify his fitted acoustical bike rather than purchasing en e-bike that lacked the fit and power/range of this e-bike. Thanks Electrify for making a happy camper!"

Happy Friend

"Great motor for a Cat Trike 559. Happy friend can not enjoy riding with his buddies again."

A 2019 Canyon Neuron Al

"A 2019 Canyon Neuron Al (L) and a 2020 Polygon Siskiu D7 (S) make a great trail/commuting/general fun ebike combination for my wife and me. Each build uses a Mini-Max battery and a BBS02, though challenges were different for each. For the Canyon, the main challenge was needing a PF adapter and downsizing to a 1x drivechain. For the Polygon, the small size and chainstay clearance made every mm count, but a rear rack and some spacers did the trick (just). So far we've put ~200 miles on each bike, and loving every moment together, even the arduous 1mi 10% grade to get back home at night!"

I just recently finished building

"I just recently finished building my back up commuter bike with an existing BBS02 kit I had laying around. The bike is a Diamondback Division 1 with a 17 inch frame in gray. I grew tired of the look of having a shark type (not knocking the battery itself though) battery on the frame of my other bike and wanted this bike to have a more simple looking and clean aesthetic. I wanted a sleeper-ish looking bike. That's when I decided to use EBC's 52V 50A mighty max battery pack with their saddle bag. The result, I could not be happier with this setup and the bike overall! I love how the bike looks so simple and clean. This battery and saddle bag greatly preserves the original look of the bike. In fact someone stopped me on the street and initially didn't know it was electric. After I told them it was they asked where the battery was. With the simple look and the near silence of the BBS02 I feel this build is a great example of a clean looking bike with mid-drive power. It's a nice change of pace from my other bike equipped with a CYC X1 Stealth Gen 3. I like to think of that bike as my hotrod bike and this one my sleek, silent, easy riding, but quick commuter. Totally happy with EBC's products and service. Thanks!"

This is with the 46T

"This is with the 46T Lekkie Bling Ring. Much lighter than the stock 48T that came with the BBS02. I have had this for two weeks and haven't droppped a chain yet. This is on a Hyper Carbon-X 29er."

This is my custom built

"This is my custom built e-mountain bike. It was built from the ground up. All parts and colors were carefully chosen. It's a great bike. I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed building it."

I added a 48V 12.8

"I added a 48V 12.8 Ah LG Halilong Battery and 750W Bafang BBS02 MidDrive Motor to this 2016 Trek 8.4 DualSport for my covid project. I designed and 3D printed a few mounts for the LEDs, a torque motor mount, and derailleur cable guide. I use it for my 8.6 mile commute, which only take 23-25mins. Thanks to the RedShift Suspension Seat Post, it makes the ride super smooth on this hybrid hardtail. With all the debris on my commute, I'm using Schwalbe Marathon HS 420 Touring Bike Tires for puncture protection. I carry a Dynaplug Ultra Compact 12V Tire Inflator that hooks up to my wiring hardness. I wired up a 48V to 12V Voltage Reducer to the battery to power the tire pump, LEDs and Siren. I use the Bafang's built-in 5V lamp output to a relay that powers on my 12V LEDs. I have yet to wrap the cables with tape as I will keep adding LEDs and simplify the wiring and custom circuits. Other additions: Lekkie Drive Cover and 42T Bling Ring SKS Stingray Fenders Axiom Seymour Oceanweave EXP19 Trunk Bag and Rack"

20" Wheel Bike Friday conversion

"20" Wheel Bike Friday conversion with 52 tooth works good, but 52 tooth on 17" Moulton wheels isn't enough—need 56 Tooth to mathamatically match up to small wheels—same for 16" wheel Bromptons also. No downhill moxie...rather a downhill glider. Ask Lekkee to build larger chainrings for small wheeled bikes."

‘08 Giant XTC 2 Conversion.

"‘08 Giant XTC 2 Conversion. BBS02, 750w, 52w battery mounted low with support from modified bottle cage. Rock solid. 175 miles so far and loving the power and range. Long ride so far 36 miles with 75% left in the tank."
